'Queen of the Autumn Garden' ~ Dahlia!

The Dahlia goes as far back as the 16th century, where it originated in Mexico. Also known as the 'Valley Flower' as Dahl means valley; although it was named after botanist Anders Dahl. And, to make things more interesting, the Dhalia has also been referred to as the Houdini of the garden because of it's many sizes, shapes & colours. This beauty of the floral world can be as large as 12" across & up to 20' tall when grown as a wild species. Queen of the garden indeed!
