Cute as a ... Bachelor's Button Flower!

Cute as a button, as in 'Bachelor's Button' flowersunique in style, name and a delight in the garden. Apparently this pretty flower got it's name from it's resemblance to a buotonniere. Those floral embellishments seen on a person's lapel at weddings & special events. A tall plant, growing 16-35" in height, it is an annual plant with grey-green stems. The intense blue colour of the flowerheads is a trademark surrounding the center of disc florets. Perhaps too pretty to be considered a weed, yet it flourishes in cornfields, hence it's other nickname of Cornflower. Be it an ornamental plant or a common wildflower, it is sure to be a bonny addition to the garden!
